You'd think that having your arm in a cast would at the very least elicit a little feminine sympathy, or at best get me a little "hero" worship and an increase in the possibility of a breakfast invitation or two.
Unfortunately, it hasn't proven to be the case.
Note To Self: Next time I am going to break something really serious, or at least hire a personal nurse to make the recovery more pleasurable ~wink~Last year in the Temple of Doom, Indiana unearthed: A View From Wednesday

snap, break, ouch indeed. but i suggest you do something funky but cool with the x-rays. she comes over, sees 'em and stays the night to make sure you're properly taken care of.

Andrea: I don't think inviting a young lady round to see my screw is going to work as a pickup line...unless maybe she asks how I got the scar.

You have my sympathy. I broke my elbow last summer (bad mountain bike!) and it took MONTHS to get the use of my arm back. A word of advice (you didn't ask for any, I know): make sure your ortho keeps a look out for soft tissue damage as well as the healing of the bone. It will heal in 6 weeks - but the joint itself may take longer - so if you are not all fixed up on schedule, make sure you follow up.

Who: I have a bad Mt. Bike as well. Well I should be out of cast soon...and then the fun begins trying to stretch un-used ligaments and tendons and get some strength back into a seriously atrophied arm.

Dude: Yep, I survived nearly 20 years of playing rugby, all the way to international level with only a few broken fingers and my "good looks" still intact. But take one sunny Tuesday afternoon, the bike path on ECP, mix in a bit of speed, some good tunes on the iPod, and then throw into the mix one three year old girl whose parents should have been keeping a better eye on her...and suddenly I get to see East Shores Hospital from the inside.

I hope that the 3 year old is alright and that your arm will recover soon.

Mama: My arm will take about another 2 months to recover...at which time I will use it to slap the parents of the little girl silly...only I can't because after I missed her and lay bleeding on the concrete they never stopped to see if I was ok, so I don't know where they live.

It's a bit dangerous to have your ears plugged into iPod while biking.

OMG, the grown-ups didn't even bother to ask if you were ok after you spared their offspring?!! I think you ought to smack the parents AND then the grandparents too!

Tiny: True but this wasn’t on the road it was on a dedicated bike path. Why am I blogging? Well it’s more fun than working.

The last time I visited ME hospital from a rugby injury, I was attended to by a very pretty nurse... until the the effect of the painkillers wore off, that is...

Post a CommentI bet you'd be fun at the security check at the airport.
But ouch! places a cyber kiss nearish the elbow
Gremlin: I guess so. ~lol~
Sofia: I'd like to know who this mysterious "she" is? Or better yet where I can find her?
Jenna: It would only be fun if they made me strip to prove I had nothing metallic...and even then only for the other passengers.
XOXOXOXO. Feel better soon.
Basically rehab begins next week as slow and careful process.
FYI, I have nuts and bolts in my shoulder too. Rugby injury, 'nuff said.
Now if I could have gotten a cute nurse it might have been worth it.
Grrrrrrrr
BTW, why are you still blogging when you should be resting your arm? ;-)
Take care! Recover soon!

Xena: I think they were worried I might try to sue them. Or shame them with public photo in “The New Paper”.
Scorpy: I think the nice little bow was to hold the pins in place while he hammered them into my bone. Hopefully it is dissolving thread.
Gremlin: Actually to young guys playing BVB with their gf’s stopped their game to help me stop the bleeding and get me to a cab. So I saw the nice side of the locals and the bad side all at once…so it was a yin-yang moment.
Sofia: Well getting a “she” to say “yes” to a date might be an area in which I feel comfortable…knowing that if I date said “she” that sometime in the future my heart will get ripped out is sadly not.
Gremlin: I hope the scar looks pretty then.
