Holiday Reading is...
Sand in the pages.
A novel purchased in the airport written by someone called Dan, Stephen or Clive.
Reading the same page 8 times and not noticing, because you are actual talking to your pretty companion or are too busy enjoying the scantily clad game of Beach Volleyball. ~grin~
Condensation dripping onto the pages from your ice cold beer or fooffy cocktail also delivered by a scantily clad woman.*
Grease marks from the suntan cream, and smudged ink from the same.
A yellowing book that has warped in the heat of the day.
Ripping a book in two, so your friend can start with the bit you have already finished.
But mostly,
Holiday reading is about reading for the sake of reading, not to learn, or expand, or to formulate an anti-establishment argument, but merely to pass time caught up in an unrealistic fantasy of imagination and alcohol dulled sensations. ie: Holiday reading is all about fun.
* Yes, I acknowledge there is a certain pattern to my holidays, but its not my fault...honestly...beach resorts are just like that. ~grin~
Which means, Indy is off on a Holiday, yes he will be looking for the latest by Clive, so he can sit back in business class comfort with his champagne and when not being entertained by the flicking images of someone's Hollywood imagination he can find the same distraction in the black and white print of a cheap novel. I shall return in about a week, and I promise to start writing more regularly.Last year in the Temple of Doom, Indiana unearthed: Meet The Parents

I love holiday reading, and you summed it up nicely - except the hot girl part, hot men, for me, are so much more fun to watch.

ohhh i'm longing for a holiday, the sun on my skin, the chick lit, the debate 'is 10am too early for a creamy cocktail', getting up only becasue breakfast buffet will be closing shortly... reading the local newspaper only to see the weather report for your next few days.

I love reading in general, but holiday reading is the best, I can devour almost a book a day if I don't have anything to do!

Wait, what am I saying? This is INDY we're talking about, so of course you will *grin* ;)
Here's to a great holiday and great books.
Sheesh
Have fun on your "holiday" or whatever it is y'all call it over on the other side of the world. I hope you get to see lots of hot girls. That's always the best part about going away... seeing all the "attractions." ;)
Are you back yet Mr Jones? Giddy up. You're becoming a lazy arse blogger.
Hope you had a great time! What did you read?
